Graphic design not only makes something look good, but it also organizes information to help deliver a message in the most impactful way possible.
The biggest misconception about graphic design is that it is easy and fast. In reality, good design requires a lot of focus, determination, good technical skills, and exploration. It's hard to make decisions without thoroughly reading the brief and conducting research, which takes time. After that, you must start implementing all the ideas and thoughts into a single design that is beautiful, logical, unique, and conveys the desired message. Yes, graphic design is not as easy as it seems, but it is very interesting and exciting.
Here's a glimpse into a busy day:
My day starts with a cup of latte and checking my email inbox and calendar. After that, I try to read the news from the world of design to stay up to date with the latest trends and learn something new.
During the day, once the Marketing team determines the projects we will be working on during the week and shares the updates with everyone, the work process begins.
The workflow varies depending on the task, but typically, I start by carefully reading and understanding the content for which I must create an illustration. Then, I highlight key words from the material.
Next, I conduct research and find points of reference that I could follow. The creation process itself comes after that. Once I have some options prepared, I share them with the rest of the team to collectively find the perfect illustration. Once a concept is approved, I work on adapting the illustration's sizes for our different promotion channels.
In the afternoon, I set the to-do list for the next day while also analyzing how my day went and how much progress I made on what I had planned.
The most satisfying part at the end of the day is when my design is approved and will be published on our blog, website, or social media. In moments like these, I realize and appreciate my contribution to the company's growth, and I take pride in the work I've done!
